Nintendo Switch 2, which is expected to replace the current Nintendo Switch LCD and OLED models, has a new launch window.

Earlier, it was anticipated that Nintendo’s next-generation console, widely expected to be called the Nintendo Switch 2, would be launched this year in 2024. However, it has now reportedly been delayed to the “early months of 2025.”

Multiple new reports from Bloomberg, Eurogamer, and VGC have suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2, which is expected to replace the current Nintendo Switch LCD and OLED models, has a new launch window. Plus, VGC also said that Nintendo could be waiting for more first-party exclusive games to launch alongside it.

“Two development sources VGC spoke to on Friday indicated that they were working on Switch 2 games planned for release early next year but could not confirm if that meant a later-than-expected launch for the console itself,” VGC reported.

Last year, reports hinted that Nintendo discreetly provided select media with access to Switch 2 units “behind closed doors.” During these sessions, participants had the opportunity to experience an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, showcasing improved fidelity, alongside other gaming demos.

Additionally, Nintendo’s recent patent filings offered insights into the potential appearance of the Nintendo Switch 2. The patent depicts a design that diverges from the dependance on Joy-Cons. Instead, the said console features a new layout featuring a single joystick positioned on the left side of the handheld device, complemented by four buttons on the right. The top may retain its shoulder buttons, while notably, the home button appears to have been relocated to the bottom.
