OnePlus Open Apex Edition – What’s New?
The first thing you will notice is the device comes in a fresh red shade with a vegan leather finish at the back and even the accessories match with the exterior shade. The foldable features the same 7.82-inch (2,268×2,440 pixels) 2K Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED inner display and a 6.31-inch (1,116×2,484 pixels) 2K LTPO 3.0 Super Fluid AMOLED cover screen. It runs on Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 and powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 16GB of RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
The other notable additions include a new VIP mode which is activated by moving the alert slider to the top position. This privacy feature prevents access to cameras, microphones and other sensors. You also have the AI-powered image editing features like AI Eraser and AI Smart Cutout, allowing users to enhance their photographs.
As for the photography enthusiasts, the foldable smartphone is equipped with a Hasselblad-tuned triple camera setup, comprising a 48-megapixel Sony LYT-T808 CMOS primary camera, a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor with 3X optical zoom and 6X in-sensor zoom and a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 ultra wide-angle camera. For better selfies and video calls, it has a 20-megapixel primary front camera and a 32-megapixel secondary camera.
Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7.0, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS and a USB-C Type port. As for the battery, it is packed with a 4,805 mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC charging.
Going by the price tag, you can pick up the year-old OnePlus Open for less than the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro or the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 in the country. However, the big difference comes in the form of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powering the Samsung and Vivo foldables.
