Adult-Rated Film Plays In All Screens In Qantas Flight After Technical Error, No Option To Turn Off

Passengers on a recent Qantas flight from Sydney to Tokyo were shocked when an adult film was unexpectedly played on all screens during the flight. Due to technical issues with the in-flight entertainment system, passengers were unable to select their own movies. Instead, the airline mistakenly played the R-rated film, Daddio, which contained explicit content, including nudity and sexual themes. This left many families and children uncomfortable, as the inappropriate material was shown for nearly an hour before the airline switched to a more child-friendly movie.

A passenger took to Reddit to claim there was no way to “pause, dim, or turn it off.” Following the incident, Qantas issued an apology and is currently reviewing the situation.

The user wrote, “So, I was on Qantas flight QF59 from Sydney to Haneda today and the in-flight entertainment system was down. After a one-hour delay, the pilot decided to take off anyway, but the only option left was for the crew to play a movie on every screen and it was impossible to pause, dim or turn it off. Here’s the kicker: the movie they played was extremely inappropriate. It featured graphic nudity and a lot of sexting, the kind where you could literally read the texts on screen without needing headphones.”

It took nearly an hour for the Qantas crew to change the movie. The atmosphere became very awkward for everyone, particularly for families traveling with kids. The Reddit user even shared some pictures of the film, featuring inappropriate texting scenes, and couldn’t believe that how such content was allowed.

A spokesperson from Qantas confirmed the incident and told news.com.au, “The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologise to customers for this experience. All screens were changed to a family friendly movie for the rest of the flight, which is our standard practice for the rare cases where individual movie selection isn’t possible. We are reviewing how the movie was selected.”

Daddio, featuring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn, tells the story of a young woman who takes a taxi from a New York airport. During the ride, she speaks about her past decision with the driver, including an affair with a married man. As their conversation progress, the driver also starts to open up about his own life. This leads to more surprising and deep conversation between the two characters.
