'Bole Jo Koyal': How MS Dhoni Turned Internet Memes and Trolls into a Hilarious Brand Deal
MS Dhoni 'owned' trollers by singing his popular meme song 'Bole Jo Koyal' in viral advertisement, internet reacts.

Ek hi dil hai kitni baar jitoge? (How many times will you win the same heart?)” This question has been on every Dhoni fan’s mind since yesterday when the 42-year-old former Indian captain turned the tables on his trollers by acting on the meme song everyone teases him with – Yes, none other than ‘Bole Jo Koyal’. In an advertisement for the e-bike brand EMotorad, lip-syncing the popular Falguni Pathak number, accompanied by two ‘koyals (cuckoo birds)’ as he cruised through the scenic countryside on his electric two-wheeler.

For those not familiar, there’s an evergreen meme featuring CSK captain, MS Dhoni, and the song “Chudi” (Bole Jo Koyal) by Falguni Pathak. The meme gained traction when a video of Telugu video creator Uppal Balu dancing to the song went viral back in 2019. People couldn’t help but notice the striking resemblance between Balu and Dhoni, leading to the creation of amusing videos featuring Dhoni grooving to the infectious beats.

Fast forward to the present, the song is often played by the DJ every time Dhoni steps onto the field to bat during any CSK match. And now, Dhoni himself joined the fun by starring in an ad referencing the same, setting himself apart and igniting his fanbase into a frenzy.

“Nah man, you cannot beat this guy. Reddit used “Thala for a reason” to troll him; it unironically became a widespread international trend for praising him. Insta/Twitter used “Bole Jo Koyal” to troll him, he has now done an ad referencing it. He always keeps winning,” wrote one user on ‘X’. Another chimed in, “Nobody owns the troll like MS Dhoni and his fans,” adding, “We just own it like pride and you will forget on why you started to troll in first place.”

Meanwhile, Dhoni isn’t the only cricketer to gracefully handle jokes made about him. Earlier in 2022, cricket commentator and former Indian Cricket Team captain Ravi Shastri embraced jokes about his partying habits in a CRED advertisement.

Thus, he shared the video on ‘X’ with a caption that even suggested he forgot when he filmed it, attributing it to the ‘after-effects’ of the party. It read, “Don’t remember any of this.”

A classic response to trolls, isn’t it?
