Chinese Principal Compels Mother To Send Sick Child To School, Receives Backlash
The principal said that she was worried about the child after finding out he was not at school and decided to visit the child's residence.

Teachers are not just the guiding force behind the students but their support and encouragement shape the learners’ lives. At times, educators’ behaviour can lead to unusual circumstances. Now, in a peculiar incident, the Chinese principal left social media users divided. The principal visited a student’s house and compelled the mother of the boy, who had taken the morning off due to illness, to send the kid to school, a South China Morning Post reported. As per the report, the principal, surnamed Li and the head of a school in China’s Hainan province, said that she was worried about the child after finding out he was not at school and decided to visit the Child’s house.

On reaching their house, the principal saw the boy playing outside. The principal expressed her anger and screamed at the boy’s mother. “My son does not feel well, don’t you understand? Is it wrong to take half a day off school?” the boy’s mother told the principal in a video shared on social media. “Yes. In his condition, he should go to school,” the principal replied.

The boy’s mother found the principal’s behavior strange as the student had fainted at school the previous day and one of the teachers had asked his mother to come and pick him up, a South China Morning Post further reported.

The mother informed the principal that her son had been feeling dizzy the previous night, but the principal insisted that taking a sick leave needed a medical certificate. The principal then took the conversation in a different direction and asked the boy’s mother whether she wanted her child to be a farmer.

“I’ve never been late for school, and I became a principal. What do you want your son to be? Do you want him to be a farmer like you?” the principal said.

This incident received mixed opinions from a lot of people. “Li must be a responsible principal. Not only does she make time to visit the pupil’s home, she also tries hard to convince the mother,” a user wrote. Another commented, “The principal’s attitude is very rude.”
