Delhi Police, known for their creative social media exchanges, has once again come up with an innovative post, referring to a trending topic of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). It featured a picture of Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir who put an end to their storied rivalry with a warm hug during a match between Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, March 29.
Whenever these two teams have faced off in the tournament, fans have always anticipated an on-field spat between Kohli and Gambhir. The long-standing saga seems to have concluded as both Indian stalwarts were seen shaking hands during a strategic time-out at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The moment was captured on the broadcaster’s camera and took no time to become viral.

After the match was over, Delhi Police dropped the picture on X (formerly Twitter). A text on the photograph reads, “Jhagda Hua? Dial 112 Aur Jhagre Ko Shaant Karao. Koi Bhi Jhagda ‘Virat’ Ya ‘Gambhir’ Nahi. (Have a heated argument? Dial 112 and let it calm down. It’s not always a big and serious issue).”
The post was actually meant to inform the general public about the department’s Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). In the time of any crisis, people can dial a toll-free number– 112– to seek assistance from the Delhi Police.
After the post surfaced on the internet, many users praised Delhi Police for sharing a positive message in such a creative way. One of them was quick to acknowledge, “Delhi police Twitter admin knows how to use current events even better than professional memers. Also sending out a positive message for everyone.”

Some humorous buddies in the police are showing their talent. It’s really great to present such content and make awareness easy,” an individual said.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir first involved in an on-field altercation during the 2013 IPL. During a match between RCB and KKR, Kohli was spotted exchanging some heated words with Gambhir, who was the captain of the Kolkata-based franchise back then.
A similar incident transpired in the 2016 season when Gambhir angrily threw the ball at the non-striker’s end where Kohli was standing. In the last IPL when Gambhir was the mentor of Lucknow SuperGiants, Kohli engaged in a war of words with Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq. Gambhir came in support of his player and was seen charging towards Kohli.
