It may have been another day of flying for the passengers aboard the Indigo flight, but for Pradeep Krishnan, who was captaining the flight, it was no ordinary day. Krishnan, a pilot with the shipper, added a heartwarming moment to his aviation journey after he got the opportunity to pilot his family on the Chennai-bound flight flying from Chennai to Coimbatore.
This heartening moment unfolded when the pilot addressed the passengers and made a special announcement before take-off that his grandparents and mother too were among the passengers on that flight.
Welcoming his family in a mix of Tamil and English, the pilot said, “Very happy to announce that I have my family travelling with me. My taatha, paati, and Amma are sitting in the 29th row. My grandfather is flying with me today for the first time.”
“I have travelled in the backseat of his TVS50 so many times, now it is my turn to give him a ride,” he added.
The pilot’s speech brought tears to his mother’s eyes, and she could be seen wiping her tears. Krishnan then encouraged fellow passengers to say “Hi” to his grandfather, who stood up to greet everyone in the cabin with folded hands. Passengers on the flight were overwhelmed to witness the touching moment, and they applauded the moment with bright smiles.
Sharing this special moment on Instagram, Krishnan wrote, “The biggest flex of mine. Flying your family and friends is every pilot’s dream.”

Back in 2018, Pradeep Krishnan got the chance to pilot his mother and grandmother on their first flight to Singapore. A video of their maiden trip went viral that showed the pilot walking up to his mother and grandmother seated on the flight to seek their blessings by touching their feet before taking off. Krishnan’s mother and grandmother waited six to seven years for the opportunity as they vowed not to travel on a plane until the pilot himself could fly them.
