In Nainital, Bride Dies Of Heart Attack While Dancing At Her Mehndi Function
The 28-year-old bride was a resident of Delhi and was set to marry a man based in Lucknow.

A bride collapsed and died while dancing during her wedding festivities in Nainital. Shreya Jain, a resident of Delhi, was to marry a man based in Lucknow. They decided to host a destination wedding, and their families gathered at a resort in Nainital. However, during the mehndi ceremony, the 28-year-old collapsed and died from a heart attack while dancing.

According to The Times Of India, the tragedy occurred on Saturday evening when Shreya was dancing on stage and suddenly collapsed unconscious. Her family immediately arranged for medical attention. But a Republic report stated that doctors at the hospital attempted to revive her for nearly an hour-and-a-half but later she was pronounced dead.

The bride’s father, Dr. Sanjay Jain, is a paediatrician, who owns Shreya Specialist Polyclinic in Dwarka, Delhi. The grieving father told the Times of India, “My daughter had completed her MBA after BTech and was very happy about her wedding. The groom works in an IT company in Lucknow.”

Further, according to Bhimtal SHO Inspector Jagdeep Negi, the bride’s father had hired the luxury Parichay Resort of the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) for his daughter’s destination wedding.

The SHO told the publication, “The marriage was planned for Sunday, and the mehndi ceremony was happening on Saturday evening when she collapsed while dancing. Doctors at Bhimtal Community Health Centre confirmed that she had possibly succumbed to cardiopulmonary complications.”

He added that the family of the deceased wanted no further legal action and had her cremated. Her last rites were held in Kathgodam before the family returned to Delhi.

A similar incident occurred last year when a bride in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar died of a heart attack while performing wedding rituals. Reportedly, the tragedy occurred in front of the Bhagwaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Bhavnagar. Hetal, the bride, apparently felt uneasy and fainted during her wedding.

Her family hurried to take her to a local hospital, but doctors informed them that she had died from a heart attack. What came as a surprise was that even as the family mourned for their daughter, relatives gathered for the wedding and suggested getting the bride’s younger sister married to the groom. After the last rites, the family has agreed to the same as well.
