This individual, known as Vinod Kumar, serving as the Mahant of Ashiana’s Balaji Mandir, also referred to as Shri Balaji Mandir Barigwandham, asserts that he can cure severe ailments and aid childless couples by prescribing them to eat sanctified rice. Vinod Kumar, originally from Mumbai, moved to Lucknow at the age of 15 after being guided by a vision to serve at a Hanuman temple in the city. His search led him to discover an idol of Balaji, which he restored and established as a temple. The temple quickly became a pilgrimage site, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays, attracting devotees seeking relief from spiritual afflictions and other issues.
The temple offers specific remedies, such as a ritual involving a 5-rupee offering and prasad over five Tuesdays, which claims to cure diseases, ward off black magic, and help childless couples conceive if they follow the ritual consumption of Panch Divya Samagri (a sacred mixture), rice, and temple water for a week. Devotees are encouraged to write a prayer letter to be left at the temple to facilitate their requests to reach the divine.
Upon fulfilment of their desires, devotees are advised to make significant offerings at the temple, varying from a month’s salary for employment blessings to specific rituals for resolving childlessness and other personal crises. The cost of these offerings can range significantly, underscoring the temple’s growing influence and the faith placed in it by those who visit.
