Domino’s is a popular American multinational pizza restaurant chain that offers a wide variety of pizzas at affordable prices. However, a simple search of the pizza brand name on the food delivery platform Swiggy has elicited a conversation online, as with the term Domino’s, the food delivery platform throws several options with varying spellings. This incident came to light after one of the customers discovered that some of the Domino’s Pizza outlets listed on Swiggy are fake and do not belong to the official franchise. Taking the issue to X, the social media user shared screenshots showing a number of fake outlets opened in the name of Domino’s across the locality.
However, the catch was that local vendors tweaked the spellings of Domino’s to deceive the customer. The post was shared on February 12 by the user Ravi Handa on X (formerly Twitter). He shared the screenshot, tagging Swiggy with the caption, “Hey Swiggy, this is clearly a fraud. Only one of these is genuine. Why are you letting this happen? Why isn’t Domino’s objecting to a blatant violation of the trademark?”

In a follow-up tweet, Ravi Handa shared another screenshot of a past order listing with ‘Very Bad’ ratings on it. “This isn’t just a joke. Someone close to me actually fell for it. They realised it only after they got the delivery and saw the box,” he added.

Swiggy replied to the user’s tweet in no time and asked him to share his pin code over DM (direct message) so that they could get it checked.

Needless to say, this fake Domino’s tweet went crazy viral, attracting more than 242,000 viewers. Many couldn’t stop themselves but flocked to the comment section to share their experiences and screenshots of similar incidents in their city.
An individual added, “We are all living in Domino’s multiverse.”

There were some who believed that there was nothing wrong with this. A user added, “I can’t see anything wrong here, though. Pretty standard practice, until the fake Domino’s don’t impersonate using the exact same name, logo, and pictures.”

An individual from Mumbai commented, “Hmm, doesn’t show up like that here. Swiggy does not monitor some locations. Or there are no frauds in Bombay?”

“The issue is rampant. These screenshots are from 2 different locations in 2 different cities,” shared a user.

Notably, the issue is not rampant, and the fake outlets were found in Kolkata and Ghaziabad. The screenshots shared on X clearly show that most of the search results for Domino’s Pizza had a slightly different spelling from the official brand name. It is worth noting that the American multinational pizza restaurant chain, Domino’s, has not yet responded to the issue.
