A PhD holder in Shopian district, Kashmir Valley, is forced to sell dry fruits and spices on a cart. Despite a decade-long career in the higher education department, Dr Manzoor Hassan, has been forced into this dire situation due to delayed salary payments. However, the father of two mentioned that his daughters are unaware that he is selling dry fruits from a cart.
Dr Hassan, who holds a PhD in Political Science, dual MAs in Political Science and Public Administration, two BEd degrees, and PG diplomas in Computer Application and Disaster Management, shared his struggles in an interview. He highlighted how many highly qualified individuals like him are compelled to sell food items, juice, and other goods from a cart to make ends meet.

“After pursuing PHD and multiple other degrees Dr Manzoor Hassan selling spices and dry fruits on a cart on streets of Shopian District," reads the caption to the video shared on Facebook.
In the video, he can be heard saying, “Many students, when they see me, they sit down, and start crying. Even I feel like crying sometimes. My parents had big dreams, thinking that after 4 PM, their son would be home, but I reach home at 9 PM from here. Sometimes I even leave the house as early as 6:30 in the morning."
