One of the best examples of what true selflessness looks like comes from mothers and wives. Keeping their interests aside, they go above and beyond for their children and families, making a lot of sacrifices. One such case recently gained traction after a pregnant Japanese woman went out of her way to prepare 30 days’ meals for her husband. The nine-month-pregnant woman shared the same on the X (formerly known as Twitter), mentioning that she was worried that her husband wouldn’t eat well after she was away for postpartum recovery.

However, the story did not go well with a lot of people on the internet, as many came forward to slam the husband for being incapable of doing household chores and even criticised the woman for her actions.

Pregnant Woman Prepares Food For A Month Before Due Date

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the controversy erupted on social media earlier this year when the woman shared a post speaking about the meals that she prepared in advance of her due date. Noting that she would be living with her parents for post-delivery recovery, the woman also said that she felt her husband wouldn’t eat well.

The woman started preparing meals for him that would last at least a month and stored them in the freezer. She also shared a picture of the dinner platters on Weibo; however, she ended up facing criticism. A user slammed the husband and wrote, “What kind of husband allows his heavily pregnant wife to prepare a month’s worth of dinners? Does he usually do nothing at home? Isn’t it just spoiling him?” while another commented, “Is your husband a junior school kid? Can he not prepare his meals?”

Users also expressed their anger over the woman’s idea of a “dutiful wife.” One wrote, “This Japanese woman is bizarre. She is pregnant and acting as her husband’s maid. How did her husband eat before he married?”

The incident has sparked an online debate in Japan and even in China.
