We saw the window period to get Hardik back as a player. For me it’s a transition phase. A lot of people don’t understand in India, people get quite emotional. But you know you take the emotions away from it. I think it’s just more of a cricketing decision that was made and I do think it is going to bring the best out of Rohit as a person as a player. Just let him go out and enjoy and score some good runs.”

Soon Ritika’s comment went viral, and Rohit’s loyal fans were not about to let it slide. Before you knew it, ‘Mumbai Indians’ was trending on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), with fans venting their frustration and disapproval of the captaincy shuffle.

While earlier, players like Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah had posted cryptic stories on their Instagram accounts following Hardik Pandya’s captaincy announcement, Mumbai Indians indirectly assured fans that all was well within the team. However, Ritika’s enigmatic comment has once again cast doubts over the situation.
