Spitting in public is illegal in many cities in India yet many people don’t hesitate to spit in public places or while travelling on roads. In many cities, it may attract fines for spitting in public places and the amount could vary depending on the rules of the civic bodies or the state governments.
Recently, a video has surfaced online that highlights this issue where a man on a motorcycle is seen confronting a police officer for spitting on the road from a moving van full of cops. This incident has caught the attention of many viewers online, who praised the biker for standing up against the police. The video is said to be from Maharashtra.
In the viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), claimed to be recorded at a traffic signal in Maharashtra, the man angrily points at a policeman inside a van, expressing his frustration. “If someone spat on you would you be quiet?” he asks the officer. Despite the policeman’s attempts to calm him down, the man kept on criticising the cop saying, “You should be ashamed.”
