Ankit Gupta, the general manager of Jamuna Bakery Mishthan Bhandar in Ballia, said that ‘Badam Katli’ has become a signature sweet of their shop, cherished for its rich blend of almonds, milk, sugar, saffron, pure ‘desi’ ghee, pistachio, and adorned with delicate silver work.

Crafting ‘Badam Katli’

The process involves grinding almonds and pistachios into a fine powder, followed by slow cooking of milk until thickened, allowing it to cool briefly before shaping it into the distinctive sweet. A final touch of silver work enhances its visual appeal.

Demand and Delight

Priced at Rs 1,000 per kilogram and Rs 25 per piece, the sweet dish has attracted patrons not just from Ballia but also from neighboring districts such as Azamgarh, Deoria, and Mau. Its popularity extends beyond immediate consumption, as many visitors prefer to take it home as well.

Location and Accessibility

Located conveniently opposite the Sports Stadium, approximately one and a half kilometers from Ballia Railway Station, Jamuna Bakery Mishthan Bhandar welcomes enthusiasts to savour the unique flavors of ‘Badam Katli’.
