A Pune man has accused Paisabazaar, RBL Bank and Bajaj Finance of making frequent spam calls. The venture capitalist activated Do Not Disturb (DND) to block promotional or marketing SMS/calls, but still got a lot of calls. He resorted to X to vent his frustration. The post ignited a debate on the social media platform and drew the attention of RBL Bank, one of the firms he cited. He concluded his tweet by proposing a startup idea for preventing similar scenarios.
“Received 9 calls today from Paisabazaar, RBL Bank, and Bajaj Finance,” he stated.
The user continued by saying that even when he put DND on the number each time, they consistently call from a different one.
“I’ve set DND everywhere and repeatedly asked them not to call, but it doesn’t seem to work.”
The user continued with a startup concept, saying that if a solution could be made for this, someone might charge as much as Rs 20 a month for it.
“1.5 million x ₹20/month = ₹3 crore/month, ₹36 Cr/year at a minimum.”

If someone makes a solution for this and charges…

In the comments section, RBL Bank stated that they “regret the inconvenience.” The bank continued by offering a link for registration so that users may stop receiving calls and emails from the bank going forward.
Another user retorted, questioning why they were still in need of permission since they hadn’t obtained it in the first place.
Did take my consent before calling? Why do you need it now to remove my name?— VCGuy (@arnavghatage) June 23, 2024
In the comments section, a user said, “There is no solution. Government has given a free hand to advertisers and Trai has become blind.”

Some users went on to say they get calls from Axis Bank and HDFC Bank almost every day.
Same with me @IDFCFIRSTBank and @AxisBank keeps calling me everyday for loans in spite of telling them I don't want now and keep calling from new numbers after I block the old ones!— SAK (@SourabhTwt) June 24, 2024
Another claimed, “Truecaller takes money to allow these companies to be not listed as Spam or marketing firms.”

Meanwhile, the venture capitalist told Moneycontrol that although he had recently purchased car insurance with Bajaj Finance, they had been bugging him with calls for the last two years.
He had merely installed the Paisabazaar app and had not used any of its services.
He went on to add that he does not even have an RBL Bank account. Describing it as “absurd,” the user claimed that he receives calls from them nonstop.
The user said that he gets four spam calls a day on average from the three firms.
