From reservation to the work portfolio of a political party, the voters cast their votes based on these criteria in the general elections. As India is riding on the wave of Lok Sabha Elections, a video is now going viral in which a woman is seen explaining the insignificance of casteism in politics. She stresses the importance of qualification over caste as a deciding factor for casting a vote. As per the video, the woman is expected to be from Bihar.

Casteism has always been a hot topic in elections. By giving a ticket to a candidate of a favourable caste, the politicians try to attract the voters. In such a situation, a Bihar woman has presented her opinion and said that voters should not cast their votes based on caste. In a public interaction with the media, a reporter asked the woman about casteism and why she opposed it. In response, the Bihar woman said that nowadays when intercaste marriages are taking place in full swing then why are people still bent on choosing the leaders of the same cast? She cited several professions which require no caste.

“We go to good doctors for treatment, we do not care about caste. Go to the master, don’t look at caste. When you go to a shopkeeper, caste does not matter. If you go to a vegetable seller, there is no caste. If you go to a lawyer, it is not caste. So why should the leader be from the same caste?” said the woman.

She claims that casteism matters only for those who have a low understanding of society. However, the woman also said that everyone has beliefs that cannot be questioned. While some praised her opinion others called out for her hypocrisy and said that she would vote for the leader of her caste only. One of the users agreed with the woman and took a jab at the politicians. “Under the guise of casteism, only the leader has his benefit, not the public’s,” wrote one of the users in the comment section of the post.
