A new trend is taking the streets by storm, where couples are putting their love on full display – literally. With the rise of social media, videos of couples getting cosy on moving vehicles have gone viral, sparking a heated debate about road safety. The latest incident in Lucknow, shared on social media platform X, shows a couple kissing and getting cosy on the sunroof of a moving car, with the caption condemning the act as “obscene” and urging the police to take action. But this is not an isolated incident – the internet is flooded with similar videos, raising concerns about the dangers of distracted driving and the true cost of a public display of affection.

The caption read, “Lucknow: The city of culture and etiquette is getting a bad name these days in areas like Gomti Nagar. After the riots, the obscenity of the lovers came to the fore; from 1090 square to Chief Minister square, they kept doing obscene acts fearlessly, police were absent, and lovemaking was happening on the roof of car number UP 78 GB 0130.”

Lucknow Police has reacted to the post and assured that an investigation is being carried out and that necessary steps will be taken in regard to the matter.

While some have condemned the act as reckless and dangerous, others have come out in support of the couple. A user wrote, “There is nothing wrong in this, change your mindset.”

Another user commented, “It is not them but you or the person who clicked this video who is obscene. Live and let live. There are other real problems in the country. Pay attention to them and stop all this time pass.”

In October 2023, a similar incident came to light in Hyderabad, where a young couple stepped out to sit on top of the sunroof and started kissing. According to reports, the incident took place on the southbound lanes of the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, which comes under the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

Users were left divided over their actions, with some criticising the couple while others came out in support. They argued that the offenders were not entirely in the wrong, explaining that the only wrong was poking their heads out of the sunroof.
