Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan shared a touching story about a premature elephant calf named Beer, who was rescued from the brink of death by his dedicated team. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Kaswan recounted the incredible journey of the young calf, who was found in September 2020, struggling to survive after being swept away by the powerful currents of the Torsha River.
“In September 2020, a tiny, premature calf was pulled from the raging waters of the Torsha River, barely clinging to life. Rescued by the dedicated team, the calf—named Beer—was just days old, weak and alone, facing an uncertain future without his mother or herd,” Kaswan wrote on X.
He further shared that the rescue team named the calf Beer and provided round-the-clock care.
“He was nourished with lactogen milk, fruits, and eventually solid foods, Beer gradually regained his strength. Cheron Subba, a park staff member, played a pivotal role in Beer’s recovery, even sleeping beside him for the first four months. Today, four years later, Beer is a thriving member of our National Park family,” Kaswan added.
The video accompanying the post shows the weak calf, barely able to stand at first, but slowly gaining strength over time. It shows Beer’s transformation from a fragile calf to a playful and energetic jumbo, running and playing with the forest officials.
