Woman Quits JPMorgan To Sell Clothes Online. Now, She Makes Rs 84 Lakh A Month
After working for top companies like Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, the woman left her high paying job to follow her true passion of selling clothes online.

Zoreen Kabani, originally from Pakistan and now based in California, US made a surprising career shift in 2022. After working for top companies like Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, Kabani left her high paying finance job to follow her true passion of selling clothes online. As a child of immigrants, she “grew up very thrifty” and said she loved “finding deals.” Despite cultural pressures in Pakistan to enter fields like finance, engineering or medicine, Kabani followed her love for fashion. She started selling clothes online and quickly turned it into a successful business. With full focus on her business, Kabani earned over $100,000 (about Rs 83 lakh) each month.

Soon after getting her degrees in the finance field, Kabani began her career at Goldman Sachs in 2010 and moved to JPMorgan Chase in 2013. Despite such high profile roles, she never felt truly satisfied. In April 2022, she made the bold decision to leave her job and decided to do something creative or meaningful in life. A few months later, her younger brother introduced her to Whatnot, an auction app where users can sell items live. Kabani quickly became fascinated by the women’s fashion segment of the app and got deeply involved in it.

Within a month, she started her page, zkstyles, through which she often earned more than $100,000 per month. After setting up her first live stream, Zoreen Kabani used her skills to find around 50 items to sell from thrift stores and clearance sales. During the initial stream, she attracted close to 50 viewers, and 20 to 30 of them ended up purchasing from her. She said, “I probably had some vintage T-shirts in there. Some cute women’s fashion items like a Nike hoodie. Being in sales for about 13 years it was a very natural progression for me to get in front of a camera and talk about a product. And I absolutely loved it.”

As Kabani continued with more live streams, she began seeing success and managed to avoid using her savings. Within a few months, she decided to turn her side hustle into a full time job. She made her business stand out by establishing a regular streaming schedule from Monday to Friday, similar to her corporate routine. She didn’t just feature items to sell but Kabani also offered fashion tips and style advice to her viewers. In her first month itself, she earned over $12,000 (Approximately Rs 10 lakh) and so far, she has sold over 75,000 items on the platform.
