A horrific incident happened during a forest safari in Zambia, where a woman was thrown out of her safari by an elephant and trampled to death. The incident occurred near the Maramba Cultural Bridge in Livingstone where the group stopped due to traffic caused by a herd of elephants.
According to a report by Metro, a US woman named Juliana Gle Tourneau was brutally attacked by an elephant during a safari drive in Zambia. It was found that the elephant had mulled the woman out of the jeep and then severely injured her. After the incident, the woman was immediately taken to a clinic atMosi-oa-Tunya National Park. She was declared dead on arrival. After the police investigation, it was revealed that her injuries included deep wounds on the right shoulder blade and forehead, a fractured left ankle, and a slightly depressed chest. The tragic accident has turned out to be a nightmare for the travellers.
Until now, there has been no update on whether anyone else was injured after the elephant’s attack. In response to these incidents, Zambian authorities have urged tourists to exercise extreme caution while observing wildlife. They have also revealed that similar incidents have been observed in neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe and Botswana. In the past year, there has been an increase in the number of attacks by wild animals in these countries.
This is not the only incident that has occurred in recent times. A while back, another US woman named Gail Mattson, who was 79 years old, was attacked by a group of elephants in Zambia’s Kafue National Park. This happened when a group of elephants overturned a tourist jeep, resulting in killing the woman and injuring five other tourists.
