Nadia Marcinko, who pleaded the fifth 42 times during her deposition related to Jeffrey Epstein, was not seen at her New York apartment for days, her neighbours told the New York Post.
“Pleading the Fifth” is an American legal term referring to the right to remain silent to avoid self-incrimination.
Nadia Marcinko, né Marcinkova, according to the New York-based newspaper has not been seen publicly since approximately the release of the initial set of court documents related to Epstein.
The report pointed out that Nadia, once known as “Global Girl”, who is a model-turned-pilot continues to be one of the most elusive characters in the Epstein scandal. It also said that Epstein called Nadia his “sex slave”, according to testimonies given by other accusers. Epstein brought her from Yugoslavia to the US in 2001 when she was a teenager.
It remains unclear if she piloted the planes Jeffrey Epstein flew in. The FAA-certified pilot was seen aboard the plane, the ‘Lolita Express’, which flew young girls and Epstein to different locations.
Prosecutors allege that Nadia helped procure victims for Epstein but her lawyers claim that Nadia herself was a victim but reports say Nadia became an abuser herself. The newspaper said that Nadia was granted immunity from prosecution in 2008 due to Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement with Florida authorities.
Nadia visited Epstein in the jail in Florida around 90 times. A New York judge last week started unsealing the identities of people linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Epstein killed himself in 2019 as he awaited trial for sex crimes.
She began working in the real estate business before joining the aviation sector. She is also the CEO of Aviloop whose address is the same building that Marcinko lives in – East 66th Street – which has been long owned by Epstein’s real estate developer brother, Mark Epstein.
