'There's Going to be 1,30,000 Fans Here Supporting India': Pat Cummins on Playing World Cup Final at Narendra Modi Stadium
Pat Cummins admitted that about 1,30,000 people will be supporting the home side but the five-time champions are ready to give the undefeated India a bit of a shake.

Australia captain Pat Cummins opened up on playing in front of a massive crowd in the World Cup final, who will be supporting the home team India at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue have played dominant cricket and will enter the mega finale as the favourites. They have been the only unbeaten side in the tournament as their winning streak started with a win over Australia in Chennai.

The Indian team will look to take revenge for the 2003 ODI World Cup final defeat when Australia emerged victorious by defeating Sourav Ganguly and Co.

Cummins admitted that about 130,000 people will be supporting the home side but the five-time champions are ready to give the undefeated India a bit of a

shake.

“Yeah, I mean, neither player from both sides were there in 2003, so it feels a long time ago. But we know it’s going to be a packed house. There’s going to be 1,30,000 fans here supporting India. So, it’s going to be awesome. They’ve been playing really well, undefeated this tournament. But we know at our best we can give them a good shake. We’ve played them quite a lot over the last couple years with success so it’s all building up for a nice final,” Cummins said in the press conference on the eve of the big-ticket finale.

Talking about playing in front of a one-sided crowd, Cummins said that it would be satisfying to silence the big crowd.

“I think you’ve got to embrace it. The crowd’s obviously going to be very one-sided but it’s also in sport there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent and that’s the aim for us tomorrow,” he added.

The Aussie skipper further said that whatever happens on Sunday night, they just want to finish with no regrets.

“You’ve just got to embrace every part of it, every part of a final even you know in the lead-up there’s going to be noise and more people and interest and you just can’t get overwhelmed. You got to be up for it, you got to love it and just know whatever happens it’s fine but you just want to finish the day with no regrets,” he added.
