Bihar is gearing up to welcome its very own bullet train, set to zoom through several districts including the capital, Patna. A massive 60 km elevated railway track is on the way in Patna, and preparations are already in full swing.
According to DNA India, this project is part of the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited’s ambitious Delhi-Varanasi-Patna-Howrah-Kolkata high-speed rail corridor. The bullet train will race through five key districts in Bihar: Buxar, Arrah, Jehanabad, Patna, and Gaya, hitting speeds of up to 350 km per hour.
In the first phase, stations will be set up in Buxar, Patna, and Gaya, with Arrah and Jehanabad to follow in the second phase. In Patna alone, 135.06 hectares of land will be acquired for the new track and station.
The elevated track will traverse 58 villages, with a 61 km road being built underneath. This high-speed link will connect Delhi to Kolkata, stopping at major points like Varanasi, Buxar, Patna, and Howrah.
