BMW is gearing up for the arrival of its fifth-generation X5 SUV, expected to make its global debut in 2026.
Known internally as the G65, this new X5 will be joined by the performance-focused X5 M, code-named G95.
The upcoming X5 will showcase the latest Neue Klasse design language. Recently, Motor.es has released spy shots of the same. Having said that, the spy shots reveal a striking front with X-shaped daytime running lights and slim headlamp housings. The bold front bumper features a large central air intake and sporty circular vents.
The SUV will also sport flared wheel arches and a rear end inspired by the XM SUV, complete with quad exhaust tips. Expect the new X5 to be longer, wider, and heavier than the current model.
Inside, the X5 will embrace the Neue Klasse theme with a sleek, minimalist dashboard. Features will include a large floating touchscreen and a full-width curved head-up display (HUD).
The new X5 will offer a range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options. The M60e xDrive variant, likely pictured here, will feature a plug-in hybrid setup, bridging the gap between standard petrol models and the electric iX5 SUV.
The M60e xDrive will be powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, delivering around 570hp. It will come with an 8-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid will offer approximately 75km of electric-only range, making it a zero-emission vehicle in some regions.
The X5’s official launch is still a few years away, with a global unveiling slated for 2026 and sales expected to start in early 2027.
