The company elaborates that they selected on the name Creta because the ‘pronunciation of Creta evokes welcome similarities with the term creative’. This name will be used in other markets as well.

The Hyundai Creta nee ix25 is the company’s stab at the lucrative compact SUV segment in India. Currently players like Ford with EcoSport, Renault with the Duster and Premier Rio are already present in the segment.

Maruti is expected to join the party soon while Tata and Mahindra products on similar lines are expected to be showcased in the near future.

Hyundai’s Creta SUV is likely to come with a choice of 1.6 petrol and diesel engines from the Verna.
