Kia is preparing to unveil the facelift version of its subcompact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Sonet in India.
Following the release of the Seltos facelift in July 2023, the South Korean carmaker will now unveil the 2024 Sonet SUV, which will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue, among others. The Kia Sonet facelift SUV will be officially unveiled on December 14, but the price will be announced early next year.
Sonet was first introduced in India in 2020, and this will be its first major update since then.
Kia Sonet Facelift SUV: Changes To The Model
The Kia Sonet facelift SUV was previously leaked on social media, providing a clear picture of the changes the model will go through in its new guise. The exterior of the 2024 Kia Sonet will most likely be similar to that of its predecessor.
Unlike the new Seltos, which debuted in July 2023, Kia has kept the Sonet facelift version’s changes small and simple. These include a redesigned front bumper and headlight cluster, as well as LED DRL units that have been tweaked. The taillight units have been redesigned and will now include a connected LED light bar. The alloy wheel design will also change.
Kia Sonet Facelift SUV: Exterior And Interior Changes
The interior of the Kia Sonet will see more changes than the exterior. A few of these modifications will be taken directly from the 2023 Seltos SUV. It is anticipated that Kia will release a revised dashboard featuring a new screen and centre console. It is anticipated that Kia will equip the Sonet with the same digital driver display and touchscreen unit found in the Seltos and Carens models.
Like all new Kia models, the climate control and other feature switches are probably touch-based. The automaker is probably going to offer updated upholstery along with a new dual-tone interior theme.
Kia Sonet Facelift SUV: Engine
For the 2024 Sonet SUV, Kia is expected to offer three engine options under the hood. Among them is the 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a manual 5-speed transmission unit. It has a maximum torque of 115 Nm and 83 bhp.
In addition, there is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine coupled to a 7-speed DCT gearbox, a 6-speed iMT, and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This machine has a peak torque of 172 Nm and 120 bhp.
Kia offers a 1.5-litre diesel engine that can be mated to an automatic gearbox or an iMT gearbox. The engine has a maximum torque of 250 Nm and 116 bhp.
