MG Motor Powers Up India With 500 EV Chargers In 500 Days
In addition to their eco-friendly initiatives, MG Motor India is focused on training people for the electric vehicle industry and using renewable energy for manufacturing.

British auto giant MG Motor (Morris Garages) marks a milestone by setting up 500 chargers across India in just as many days.

This initiative, dubbed MG Charge, aims to make electric vehicle (EV) charging easy and widespread.

Launched in 2022, the project plans to install 1,000 charging points in 1,000 days, targeting apartments, condos, and societies.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, shares in the Press Release, “MG aspires to do more than provide cutting-edge electric vehicles. This landmark of installing 500 chargers in as many days underscores MG Charge’s vision of creating a robust EV ecosystem that not only supports but propels the widespread embrace of green mobility. Our belief is rooted in delivering not just chargers but convenient and accessible solutions, enhancing the entirety of the electric vehicle ownership experience for a sustainable and bright future.”

Teaming up with partners like Exicom Telesystems, ElectreeFi, EchargerBays, Ionage, Statiq & Highway Delite, MG deployed 7.4kW chargers across 50 major cities, averaging one installation per day. This move underlines MG’s dedication to boosting green mobility in India.

MG’s EV Push:

MG Motor India isn’t just installing chargers; they’re building a network. With over 15,000 charging points nationwide, including public and home chargers, MG is working with partners like Glida, TPCL, BPCL, Jio-bp, Statiq, Zeon, and ChargeZone to expand EV infrastructure.

Besides this, the brand is working closely with Attero and Lohum for battery recycling, reuse, and life extension. Recently, MG joined hands with Shoonya – Zero Pollution Mobility campaign, led by NITI Aayog, for a pollution-free future.

Taking a holistic approach, MG invests in talent and green manufacturing. Half of their manufacturing energy comes from renewables, reducing CO2 emissions by 36 percent. Their EV models, ZS and Comet, make up a significant chunk of their sales, with over 25,000 units sold.

In short, MG is driving India towards a greener, cleaner future, one charger at a time.
