Bengaluru traffic police is leading a one-of-its-kind drive to get rid of loud exhausts from two-wheelers, especially those on the Royal Enfield bikes. Over the period of the last few months, the traffic police has been issuing challans, and seized bikes of those riding a motorcycle with the loud exhaust note. This time, though, Bengaluru cops have taken the things to a whole new level.
The cops have used a road-roller to destroy a handful of seized exhausts, most of which are stripped down from the Royal Enfield motorcycles. Bengaluru Traffic Police shared the images on their official Facebook page to send across the strong message.
The caption of the image shared reads – “If you wondered what we do with all the Defective Silencers, Shrill Horns and Number Plates, this pic should answer your question." However, Bengaluru police is being trolled for taking such action against trouble makers.
Some people have questioned police’s inaction to stop such aftermarket exhausts from selling, while some have raised questions on the use of road-roller for destroying exhausts, which in turn could damage the road itself.
Some are also asking how the Bangalore police determines which exhaust is loud and not. Royal Enfield motorcycles, especially the pre-UCE models came equipped with OEM-fitted loud exhausts. However, Bengaluru police is right while removing after-market exhaust without necessary RTO documentation.
Many OEMs are selling after-market exhausts through their dealerships. But such exhausts are not as loud as the one’s used by RE owners. Whatever the case may be, RE owners have to realize the importance of noise pollution and stop using cheap mod-jobs.
