Anyone who is a social media addict will instantly know the name of Bhuvan Bam. Although he has recently also gained recognition as a singer and songwriter, he popularised himself through his YouTube channel BB Ki Vines, which portrays comical situations that a cosmopolitan teenager finds himself in, while in conversation with family members. All the characters are played by Bhuvan Bam himself. With his channel subscription of 26.4 million, Bhuvan currently holds the title of one of the richest YouTubers in India. Born in a middle-class family of Vadodara, Gujarat, Bhuvan had a childhood dream of becoming a singer. He never even thought of becoming a YouTuber.As he did not know how to go about his passion for singing, he started making comedy videos on YouTube as a hobby. Bhuvan started by uploading a video where he satirised a news reporter’s insensitive questioning of a woman regarding her son’s death in the Kashmir floods. This video gained widespread traction in Pakistan, motivating Bam to establish his own YouTube channel in June 2015. Within no time his short videos went viral and a YouTube star was born.
Bhuvan Bam was the first YouTuber in India to achieve 10 million subscribers in the year 2018. Currently he has assets worth Rs 122 crore, which include an expensive fleet of cars. He is currently the richest YouTuber in India. Bhuvan had initially attempted singing as a career path and used to sing in small cafes and restaurants in New Delhi. He earned around Rs 150 per day, which amounted to about Rs 5000 per month.
Changing his profession and going for YouTube videos completely changed his destiny. Bhuvan did not give up on his love for singing. After becoming a YouTuber, in August 2016, Bhuvan released a music video Teri Meri Kahani. This was followed by Sang Hoon Tere, Safar, Rahguzaar and Ajnabee. Together with Divya Dutt, he starred in the short film Plus Minus, for which he received a Filmfare award.
