Jet airways commence operations to Gulf sector
Jet Airways launched its direct flights to Kuwait and Bahrain from Kochi.

Kochi: Jet Airways on Saturday launched its daily direct flights to Kuwait and Bahrain from Kochi, thus becoming India's first private sector carrier to launch its services to the Gulf sector.

Expanding its international network, Jet Airways will be operating direct daily flights on the Kochi-Kuwait-Kochi and Kochi-Bahrain-Kochi sectors.

With these flights, the airlines makes its first international foray out of Kerala, Sudheer Raghavan, Executive Vice President- Commercial, Jet Airways, said.

The airline will also commence daily direct flights on the Mumbai-Bahrain-Mumbai and Delhi-Kuwait-Delhi sectors.

Raghavan said the airlines would be introducing its world-class service on the Boeing 737-800 aircraft on these sectors offering the highest quality of comfort, reliability, standards of in-flight and ground operations.

With a large number of Indians living and working in the Gulf, flights to these sectors consistently register high load factors.

Jet Airways would commence its operations from Kozhikode to Muscat and Doha from January 23. Kochi will also be linked to Muscat from January 23.

'We are looking at Kerala as a springboard for future growth', he said. Services from Thiruvananthapuram to Gulf would be between April and June this year, he said.

In November last year, the airlines flew to 10 International destinations, in December it was 11 and in January including the Gulf sector, it has become 14. By April, the Jet expects to add more destinations to touch 19, he said.
