Capital goods and oil & gas lend support to the indices while metals were under selling pressure.
Mumbai: The market ended on an absolutely flat note. The Sensex was down 6.46 points at 22758.37, and the Nifty slipped 2.30 points at 6815.35.
About 1472 shares advanced, 1277 shares declined, and 166 shares were unchanged.
Capital goods and oil & gas lend support to the indices while metals were under selling pressure. L&T, GAIL, HDFC Bank, ONGC and Hindalco were top gainers in the Sensex.
Sesa Sterlite lost 4 per cent, Wipro, SBI, Infosys and Maruti Suzuki were other laggards in the Sensex.
