Sensex Today: Equity benchmark indices started Wednesday’s trading session on a flat note amid mixed cues from global peers.
The S&P BSE Sensex opened almost unmoved at 71,383, and was seen swinging between zones in a thin range. The NSE Nifty 50 was seen testing the 21,540 levels.
Among the Sensex 30 stocks, HCL Technologies was up over 1 per cent. Wipro, Titan, Sun Pharma and ITC were the other notable gianers. On the other hand, NTPC, Axis Bank and Power Grid were the visible losers.
The broader indices were up marginally; BSE MidCap added 0.1 per cent, while the SmallCap index advanced 0.3 per cent.
Global Cues
The Dow and S&P 500 fell 0.42 per cent and 0.15 per cent, respectively, overnight while the Nasdaq Composite eked out a gain of 0.09 per cent.
Asian stocks were mixed. Japan’s Nikkei was up 1.7 per cent, leading gains in the region. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 and Kopsi in South Korea fell up to 0.6 per cent. Hang Seng recovered to inch 0.3 per cent up.
