'Impossible for RCB to Win IPL With This Bowling Attack': Michael Vaughan, Tom Moody Urge Royal Challengers to Make Changes
The chase of 183 proved to be a cakewalk for Kolkata Knight Riders as they overhauled the target inside 17 overs.

Three of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s frontline pacers proved mighty expensive during a poor bowling show against Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL 2024 match on Friday night.

Mohammed Siraj (0/46 from 3 overs), Yash Dayal (1/46 from 4 overs) and Alzarri Joseph (0/34 from 2 overs) were taken apart by KKR top-order that made short work of what appeared to be a challenging target of 183.

Venkatesh Iyer (50 off 30), Sunil Narine (47 off 22), Shreyas Iyer (39* off 24) and Phil Salt (30 off 20) were in red-hot form as they overhauled the target in just 16.5 overs for a big seven-wicket win that propelled KKR to the second spot on the points table.

RCB have lost two of their first three games of IPL 2024 and both their defeats saw their pacers leaking runs aplenty.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan reckons that with the bowling attack that has taken the field for RCB thus far, they should kiss goodbye to their dream of winning IPL 2024 .

“Impossible for @RCBTweets to win the IPL with this bowling attack .. #OnOn #IPL2024live,” Vaughan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Echoing Vaughan’s strong words, former Australia fast bowler who coached Sunrisers Hyderabad to IPL title win in 2016, feels RCB must include in Lockie Ferguson and Reece Topley into their bowling attack.

#RCB have no choice but to play two overseas specialist pace bowlers. #Ferguson and #Topley must start. #IPL24,” Moody wrote.

On the other hand, former India allrounder Irfan Pathan reckoned RCB missed a trick by not bowling part-timer Glenn Maxwell during the Powerplay.

KKR were an unstoppable force when the fielding restrictions were on as they blazed away to 85/0 in their first six overs of the chase.

“Faf should have bowled Maxwell in the power play. KKR did bowl Anukul in power play which worked in a way of economy,” Pathan wrote.

RCB will next face Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday in another home fixture hoping to return to winning ways.
