Premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah produced a sensational spell in the second innings of the Cape Town Test to register his name in the record books. Bumrah claimed a six-wicket haul to dismantle the Proteas batting line-up. The Indian pacer exploited the swinging and bouncing conditions well to restrict South Africa to 176.
Bumrah resumed the proceedings on Day 2 with a wicket in his kitty from the opening day. The paceman produced a lethal performance with the ball in the first session to add five more to his kitty. However, India failed to take full advantage of Bumrah’s brilliance as Aiden Markram scored a magnificent century to give Proteas something to fight for in the Test.
With his sensational spell, Bumrah became the Indian bowler with second-joint most five-fors in SENA countries. Meanwhile, it was his third fifer on the Proteas soil.
David Bedingham was Bumrah’s first victim on Day 2 while Lungi Ngidi was the last one as he wrapped up South Africa’s innings for 176.
He equalled Javagar Srinath’s tally to claim the most five-wicket haul for India on the Proteas soil.

Meanwhile, Bumrah finished with excellent figures of 6/61 as India bowled South Africa out for 176 to set themselves a target of 79 to win the second Test here on Thursday.
India had lost the first Test in Centurion and a victory will help them draw the two-match series.

India’s pace spearhead Bumrah bowled beautifully after the opening day’s play saw a staggering 23 wickets fall on a very quick Newlands surface that is offering inconsistent bounce.
