Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke lauded the performance of Jasprit Bumrah in the recently concluded Test at Visakhapatnam between India and England. Bumrah had showcased his class in what was a flat batting track which the World Cup-winning skipper praised.
Speaking to ESPN the former Australian international was in awe of the efforts of Jasprit Bumrah who managed to pick up six wickets in the first innings and then three wickets to help India level the series 1-1. “Bumrah, what can you say! He is a freak. His skill use in conditions that are not conducive to fast bowling, it’s unbelievable. He is a freak.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s performances have taken him to the top of the ICC Men’s Test Bowler’s rankings, a first for Indian cricketing history as he becomes the first Indian fast-bowler to ever top bowler’s charts. He became the fourth Indian bowler to achieve this since Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Bishan Singh Bedi.
The pacer has been a pivotal part of India’s success throughout all three formats and has been able to continue showcasing his class, especially in the longest format.
Bumrah was the star of the Indian bowling attack as he managed to pick up six wickets in the first innings of the second Test at Visakhapatnam where he dismissed the likes of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Tom Hartley and James Anderson to restrict them to 253 as India finished the first innings with a lead of 143 runs which proved to be handy as India went on to set a target of 398 runs in the second innings.

With time on their hands, the pressure was on the home side as they desperately needed to secure the win to keep the series intact. England’s opening batter Zak Crawley looked to take the game away from the Indian bowling attack but after the spin trio of Kuldeep, Axar and Ashwin chipped in to take the wickets at the top, Jasprit Bumrah managed to clean up the middle order with three wickets dismissing Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley to secure the win and level the series 1-1.
