The Royals needed the win to go up to second but incessant showers meant that they were unable to get a game going. There was a moment somewhere around 10:30 PM IST where showers had stopped and the match officials had given the go-ahead to play a seven-over game. But just as the toss was completed, it was raining once again and the game was eventually abandoned.

On the other hand, SRH, a team that redefined power-hitting with optimum use of ‘Impact Sub’, had one of their best chases on Sunday, albeit on a track that once again resembled a highway in terms of its placid quotient. The chase of 215 against a depleted Punjab Kings with five balls to spare also bolstered their NRR just when it was needed.
