India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has reportedly returned from London after consulting top medical experts on his quadriceps injury. Rahul was part of India’s ongoing five-match Test series against England at home and played in the opening game before being ruled out from the remaining matches due to pain in his quadriceps.
In fact, Rahul was expected to make his return from the third Test but wasn’t deemed fully fit despite being named in the squad. Subsequently, he missed the 4th Test too before BCCI announced he’s been ruled out from the final match as well.

According to a report in The Times of India, the 31-year-old is on track to make a full recovery for the upcoming IPL 2024 where he will again lead Lucknow Super Giants.
He is expected to get his fitness certificate from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in the coming days and is also in contention for India’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad.
“He (Rahul) had consulted top medical experts in London. He returned to India on Sunday and has checked into the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehab. He should get the Return to Play certificate from the NCA soon. He is keen to prove his worth in the IPL as he’s in line for selection in India’s T20 World Cup team as a ‘keeper-bat,” TOI quoted a source as saying.
Rahul has been battling various fitness concerns for some time now. During IPL 2023, he hurt his hamstring while fielding in a game which put him on the sidelines for several months as he underwent surgery.
Rahul made a blockbuster India return with a century against Pakistan at the 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. He then played a vital role in India’s unbeaten run to the ODI World Cup final.
Rahul was part of India’s South Africa tour in December as well, taking part in the ODIs and Tests. However, he hasn’t played a T20I for India since the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
