Riyan Parag stole the show with his blistering knock on Wednesday as Rajasthan Royals locked horns with Gujarat Titans in Jaipur. The hosts suffered a mini-collapse before the young all-rounder joined hands with his captain Sanju Samson to forge a 130-run stand for the third wicket; RR’s second-best partnership for a third wicket or lower in IPL history.

This was Parag’s third fifty this season. He ended up scoring 76 off 48 balls with the help of 5 sixes and three boundaries. Two of his five maximums came in the same over as he hammered Noor Ahmed out of the park. The Afghan leg-spinner came to bowl his final over and Parag greeted him with a six over midwicket. A couple of deliveries later Noor received the same treatment and this time, the RR youngster swept the leggie powerfully over square leg, depositing the ball far into the stands.

Sanju Samson reaches magnificent milestone
Captain Samson was the second highest-scorer for Rajasthan, returning unbeaten for 68 off 38 deliveries. Playing the 50th IPL game as RR skipper, the wicketkeeper-batter became the batter with the most fifty-plus scores for Rajasthan Royals in all T20.

With 25 fifty-plus scores, Samson surpassed his teammate Jos Buttler (24) to notch the top spot. The Rajasthan captain also holds the record for the highest score on the 50th match as IPL captain, edging past Gautam Gambhirs’ 11-year-old feat. The latter had scored 59 off 46 balls against RCB on his 50th outing for Kolkata Knight Riders, back in 2013.

Rajasthan Post 196/3
At 43 for two in the powerplay, the Titans had it all under control before skipper Samson and Parag combined to snatch the momentum from the visitors. Royals smashed as many as 123 runs in the last 10 overs as the hosts scored 196/3 in 20 overs.
Matthew Wade dropping Parag on 0 and 6 off star spinner Rashid Khan also cost Titans dearly as the in-form batter found the big hits at will afterwards. The 22-year-old hammered five sixes with three of them coming against left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed via the sweep shot. Parag brought up his fifty with a flat six over long-on off pacer Mohit Sharma.
