The Mumbai Indians Paltan arrived in Punjab ahead of their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against the Shikhar Dhawan-led side. The five-time IPL champions shared a video on Instagram showcasing the team’s travel. The video begins with their star batter Suryakumar Yadav saying aloud the famous greeting, “Sat Sri Akaal”. Next, the team can be seen leaving their homestead in Mumbai for the airport. The squad’s stars including Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan were also spotted in the video. The squad can be next seen boarding a flight to Punjab after which they make their way to the hotel where several fans awaited them.

The Mumbai Indians will be playing the Punjab Kings in the 33rd fixture of this season’s IPL on Thursday, April 18. The highly anticipated match will be hosted at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium. The Hardik Pandya-led side will be looking to make a recovery against the Punjab Kings to improve their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians are currently in eighth position in IPL 2024 standings with two victories from six games. Punjab Kings are also having a similar campaign with the 2014 finalists bagging two wins in six fixtures so far this season.

Several eyes will be on Suryakumar Yadav for the upcoming IPL match against the Punjab Kings. The Mumbai Indians star recently showcased his batting prowess against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last victory of the tournament. In that match, Suryakumar smashed a 17-ball fifty while spearheading Mumbai Indian’s run chase at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Thanks to his heroics, Mumbai Indians were able to complete a successful chase in 15.3 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav was unable to carry forward the same momentum into their IPL El Clasico against the Chennai Super Kings. The T20 specialist was dismissed for a duck in that game while Mumbai Indians, eventually, conceded a 20-run defeat.

As for the Punjab Kings, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side lost their previous game to the Rajasthan Royals in a nail-biting thriller. It was Shimron Hetmyer who guided the 2008 champions to a three-wicket victory. Punjab Kings are currently on a two-match losing streak with their last victory coming on April 4 against the Gujarat Titans.
