With the BCCI naming the squad for the first Test of the upcoming two-match series against Bangladesh starting later this month, a host of India international players are set to be withdrawn from the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 for a pre-series camp in Chennai. The likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav among others will likely not feature in the second-round matches of India’s domestic season opener.

As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, their replacements have already been lined up including India T20I batter Rinku Singh who is expected to join the India B squad. A 16-man squad to be led by Rohit Sharma has been named for the two Bangladesh Tests starting September 19 and the players will assemble in Chennai on September 12 for the preparatory camp.
As per the report, Gill, Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruv Jurel and Akash Deep will leave India A team with Shams Mulani, Akshay Wadkar, Pratham Singh, Shaik Rasheed and Pulkit Narang being roped in as likely replacements.
Meanwhile, the India B will lose Jaiswal, Pant and left-arm pacer Yash Dayal who received a maiden Test call-up. The team will have Rinku, Suyash Prabhudesai and Himanshu Mantri as replacements.
The report further adds that middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan though will play the second round of the competition for India B despite being named in the India Test squad. Interestingly, the second round matches will end by September 15.
Axar Patel will leave India D squad as will Tushar Deshpande but because for injury. Vidhwath Kaverappa, who was part of India A squad, will shift to India D and will be joined by Nishant Sindhu.
