'Team-Man and a Hard Competitor': David Warner Confused Why Virat Kohli Cops a Lot of Criticism
David Warner remains confused as to why people criticize Virat Kohli despite being one of the best through the previous years.

As India is set to take on Australia as both sides’ future hangs in the balance, there has been a lot of criticism regarding the form of Virat Kohli in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. He has not been able to replicate his best form in the tournament. But his Australian rival, David Warner came out in support of the Indian icon suggesting that there has been a lot of unnecessary flak on his strike rate.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli scored only five runs in the group stages following which scored 24 and 37 runs respectively in the Super Eight games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

“It’s just his passion for the game, like, he’s got a knack or determination just for scoring runs and hunger to score runs. You know, he cops a lot of criticism, which is not right. I don’t know why he cops it, but there are a lot of people out there who are big Virat supporters, like all of us,” Warner said on Star Sports.

Warner further praised Kohli for his consistency displayed through the years and suggested that it is the quality he brings along with the team that the Australians like competing against.

“Now, we’re in awe of the great players that have played this game, and we’re fortunate to take the field with. So, you know, for him, he consistently goes about his business how he does. You know, he scores a lot of runs. He’s a good team man and he competes hard. And that’s what we like about coming up against the Indian cricket team.”

India remains undefeated in the tournament but still faces the risk of a shocking exit in the Super Eights. They will need to beat Australia in their final Super Eight game which could throw a spanner in the works allowing Afghanistan or Bangladesh a chance of securing a spot in the semi-finals. India will take on Australia at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.
