Troy Johnson Produces Stunning Fielding Effort to Dismiss Will Young in Super Smash T20 Fixture - WATCH
In the Super Smash tournament in New Zealand, Troy Johnson managed to produce an insane fielding effort for the ages, taking a blinder of a catch to dismiss Will Young.

The Super Smash T20 tournament in New Zealand witnessed arguably one of the most epic catches in the sport’s history when Wellington took on the Central Districts.

New Zealand international, Will Young came in to bat in the second innings for the Central Districts but was back in the hut early thanks to a stellar fielding display, with a target of 148 runs. Young who opened the batting looked to get going in the powerplay. But in the fifth over, he lofted one up in the air towards the long-on region.

The Wellington fielder, Troy Johnson, was inside the circle along the mid-on region and managed to run back, similar to Kapil Dev’s iconic catch in the 1983 World Cup. But this time Johnson was charging towards the long-on boundary rope where he managed to take the catch but managed to throw the ball in the air once again before hitting the ropes to give the catch to his skipper Nick Kelly to help secure the wicket.

Despite the insane fielding effort, the Central Districts managed to walk away with a win thanks to a fifty from Jack Boyle, the opening batter along with a quick-fire 30 from Doug Bracewell to help them secure the win by six wickets and 19 balls to spare.

The Dutch all-rounder, Logan Van Beek had a torrid time with the ball as well having given away 53 runs with a ball remaining in his quota of four overs. He however, managed to start off with a crucial knock in the first innings where he scored 41 off 24 deliveries to push Wellington to a defendable score.

In their next fixture, Wellington will take on the Northern Districts while the Central Districts will take on Auckland in the Super Smash tournament as well.

Wellington are currently on top of the table with 22 points while the Central Districts are at the third position with 16 points so far in the tournament.
