12 Private Schools In Noida And Greater Noida Face Action For Violating RTE Act

The Right to Education Act mandates that private schools reserve 25 per cent of seats for students of economically weaker sections.

In a recent development, the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration has reportedly issued notices to around 12 private schools in Noida and the Greater Noida area of Uttar Pradesh for failing to take admission of students under the guidelines of the Right to Education Act (RTE). The district official mentioned despite sending multiple notices to the schools over the tenure of four months, the schools still failed to abide by the rules that are placed by the central government of the country. The Right to Education Act mandates that private schools reserve 25 per cent of their seats for students belonging to economically weaker sections.

Rahul Panwar, basic education officer, Noida, mentioned that under the recommendation of the District Magistrate, a special committee will be formed. The committee will probe the alleged irregularities and issue a report. The decision to officially cancel the recognition of the schools will be taken after the investigation report is submitted by the committee. As per reports, the committee will be led by subdivisional magistrate Ved Prakash Pandey. The district disabled empowerment official Ashish Kumar and principal of Kumari Mayawati Government Girls Inter College Chhavi Singh will also be part of the probing committee.

The schools that allegedly failed to abide by the rules of the government are Bal Bharti Public School of Noida, The Millennium, Ramagya School, Raghav Global School, Fortune World, Army Public School, Sanskar Roza Jalalpur, Oxford Green Public School, Samsara The World Academy, Shiv Nadar School, Delhi Public School- Knowledge Park-5, and Darbari Lal Foundation World.

Regarding the future process, Rahul Panwar said, “The committee has sent notices to the schools, seeking their reply within a week. Several attempts were made to warn the schools earlier. If the schools fail to respond within a week, the DM may process the withdrawal of their recognition.”

Commenting on the recent development an official from Delhi Public School, Knowledge Park-5, Greater Noida West, mentioned that their admission process is still underway. They are expected to complete the pending admissions soon.
