The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024 was conducted on January 21 in 3418 test centres across 135 cities in the country. As per the official notice, as many as 9,58,193 candidates registered for paper-1 (classes 1 to 5), 17,35,333 candidates applied for paper 2 (classes 6 to 8). A total of 26,93526 candidates registered for the CTET 2024 January session. However, around 84 per cent of the registered candidates appeared in the examination.

There are two question papers in the CTET exam — Paper-1 is to ensure the eligibility of teachers for classes 1 to 5, while Paper-2 is to ensure the eligibility of teachers for classes 6 to 8.

A total of 137 City Coordinators (two City Coordinators due to an excess of examination centres in some cities), 3418 Centre Superintendents, 4021 Observers, and 662 CBSE officials, and employees were deployed for the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, the CBSE said in an official notice.

CTET 2024: Marksheets to be Available on DigiLocker

The board has further notified that like in previous years, candidates will receive digital marksheets and eligibility certificates through DigiLocker. It is part of a resolution of the board towards the ‘Green initiative’. “DigiLocker accounts of all the appeared candidates will be created and the account credentials will be communicated to the candidates on their mobile numbers registered with CBSE.  Candidates will be able to download their digital mark sheet and eligibility certificate using the communicated credentials,” the central board stated.

The marksheets and certificates will have an encrypted QR code which can be scanned and verified using DigiLocker mobile app. This step has been taken for security reasons.

As per the IT Act, the digitally signed mark sheet and eligibility certificates are legally valid. Mark sheets and eligibility certificates are convenient in digital format for all as they can be shared electronically anytime anywhere, CBSE said. “The Board is committed to saving a huge amount of money and valuable resources like paper, trees, and water and reducing carbon emissions,” it added.
