The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Examiner of Patents and Designs Mains Paper 1 and Paper 2 on January 25. Candidates who pass the preliminary test (phase 1) are entitled to take the main examination (papers I and 2). On December 21, over 89,657 candidates took the preliminary exam for the recruitment process at 260 centres located in 103 cities around the country. The preliminary results for the Examiner of Patents and Designs will soon be available on the official website, exams.nta.ac.in.
According to the NTA, paper 1 will be a computer-based test, whereas paper 2 will be a descriptive exam. Paper 1 will be administered during the morning shift, while Paper 2 will be administered during the evening shift.
Paper 1 will be worth 100 points and will be held for a duration of two hours. It will be divided into the following sections- General knowledge and current affairs (20 marks), general aptitude (20 marks), elementary mathematics (20 marks), English language skills (20 marks), and understanding of intellectual property rights (IPRs) (20 marks). Paper 2 will be worth 300 points and candidates will have three hours to complete it. It will include the technical and scientific discipline of the vacancy they applied for. The recruitment procedure interview will be announced later on the website.
The city intimation slip and admit card release dates for the Examiner of Patents and Designs Mains Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be notified soon on the official website, exams.nta.ac.in.
The official notification states, “In case of any query regarding the above-mentioned examination, the candidate may contact on 011 – 40759000 / 011 – 69227700 or e-mail [email protected].” The NTA started the recruitment drive in December 2023, and will be taking in Patents and Designs Examiners for 553 positions in the Patent Office under the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Post the preliminary test, the NTA released the answer key and announced that candidates could challenge the answer key for the Patents and Recruitment Preliminary Exams 2023 from December 27 to 29. In its announcement, the NTA had indicated that candidates who are dissatisfied with the Answer Key must contest it by paying a non-refundable processing cost of Rs 200 per question.
