Chris Gayle Eyes Grammy Nomination For Reggae Album, Speaks Of B'wood Dreams: 'I'd Like To Act...' | Exclusive
Chris Gayle, in an exclusive chat with News18, opened up on his new Raggae album and Bollywood dreams.

Apart from his outstanding performance on the cricket field, Chris Gayle is known for his lively music tracks. He made his musical debut in 2020 with a dancehall music video, “We Come Out To Party,” and has now submitted his 2022 album, “Tropical House Cruises To Jamaica,” for Grammy consideration.

When asked about his decision, Gayle told News18 exclusively, “I was approached by Billboard executive producer Contractor Music from Jamaica to be the headliner and the face of the album Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica: The Asian Edition. I have two songs in the album which also features Grammy Winner Ms Lauryn Hill and reggae giants Morgan Heritage, Capleton and Sizzla. My songs on the album are Gimme Your Love with Shav A and Choco Loco Remix with Camar Flava. We entered the album into the Grammy race for Best Reggae Album and hope to get a Grammy nomination for the album.”

Speaking of his interest in music, he said, “I started my journey as a musician during the pandemic and lockdown. It had always been a dream, but not something I seriously considered until a UK-based artist named Stylo G approached me to collaborate on a song. When I listened to the finished product, I fell in love with the artistry. Now, I have my own studio in my house and my own record label, Triple Century Records.”

Chris, who retired from ODIs after the 2019 Cricket World Cup, said that he will always want to play a mentorship role in cricket, a game that has brought him so much. “Cricket has been really good to me. However, I will now be spending more time and energy in music. I have had success with collaborations with two Indian artists Emiway Bantai and Arko. I now wish to work with Shaggy and Sean Paul. I would also like to get Bollywood acting roles and will be working with the Jamaican Government as a cultural ambassador to increase the flow of tourists coming from India to Jamaica,” he shared.
