In May this year, the announcement video of Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri was unveiled. The film – much like its first installment headlined by Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor – is themed on two youngsters who fight for their love against the backdrop of caste differences. Seemingly, it’s a spiritual sequel with Shazia Iqbal taking on the role of a director. And in March, Siddhant reposted a picture featuring plates of momos shared by Triptii and he captioned it, “P.S. – will never judge Paneer Momos again.” Needless to say, it piqued the curiosity of many of their fans.
Now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Siddhant opened up on this food shenanigan with the Animal and Bad Newz actor and recounted what went wrong during the episode. “Do not have paneer momos! I know Triptii Dimri is one of the most up and coming actors and one of the national crushes of India but usne mere saath chhalawa kiya hai,” he told us. What followed next not only cracked his Yudhra co-star Malavika Mohanan up but also bore a testament to the camaraderie he shares with Triptii.
Siddhant recalled, “We had gone to dub the announcement teaser of Dhadak 2 at the Dharma Productions office where she ordered momos. Both she and I love momos. But here’s the catch! Momos are usually either vegetarian or chicken. But she insisted that we call for paneer momos. After I had it, I was like, ‘Bhai saab, yeh kya hai? Yeh nahi ho sakta.’” Turning to Malavika, the Gully Boy and Genhraiyaan actor stated, “I shared a post where I wrote that I’ll never judge that dish again and that means that I took the decision that I’ll never have it again in my life.”
Earlier, in an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Siddhant had spoken about how the success of Animal changed the crew’s behaviour towards Triptii on the sets of Dhadak 2. “The way the response towards her changed after Animal’s release! Earlier, every day she would ask for tea, no one batted an eye. Cut to, post-release, they would ask her which tea she wants — masala tea, green tea, etc, etc,” he said. When asked if he’s also infatuated with her, he added, “No, she is very sweet, she is a very amazing person, but I don’t put my heart into the place where I work. I put my heart into the work, I don’t put my heart into the people I work with.”
As for Dhadak 2, Dhadak director Shashank Khaitan had exclusively told us, “I’m sure that it’s going to be a very, very powerful story. I’m also excited about young actors coming up and telling social stories. I’m really looking forward to Dhadak 2. I think it was a very bold reveal in terms of how they announced the title and unveiled the actors. Dhadak is home territory for me. I’m sending my best wishes to everyone associated with the film.”
