New Delhi: Despite losing two key players in the form of Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure, with Philippe Senderos expected to leave for Everton in the near future, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is adamant that he is happy with the tools that he has at his disposal.
The French gaffer has only added one player to his squad over the summer transfer period, bringing Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen in from Dutch side Ajax.
Taking this into consideration, fans and pundits alike have wondered about Wenger's personnel policy in recent weeks.
And when asked if there will be any further additions to his side, the 59-year-old told The Sun: "Not at the moment, no."
"We work always but it would be pretentious to say that we signed anybody now before the season starts. We always have to listen to peoples' opinions but you also have to trust what you see in the games and in training," he said.
In the manager's defence, the Gunners have enjoyed a fairly successful pre-season campaign, losing only once throughout — a 2-0 loss away to Spanish giants Valencia.
"Overall it was very positive preparation and I believe we have shown quality in every game — physically, everybody is ready to start," he added.
"I am very optimistic about the season and I am very positive about this team."
One player missing from Wenger's available pre-season squad was new £10 million signing Vermaelen who has been struggling with a groin problem. However, the gaffer expects the centre-back to be ready for the upcoming Premier League tie with Everton.
"He is very close. If we had wanted to take a gamble then we could have played him against Valencia but we did not want to."
