Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies Ruled Out With Ligament Strain
Bayern issued a statement saying Davies was "set for a spell on the sidelines" after picking up the injury in a 3-1 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach at home.

The injury bug just won’t let go of Bayern Munich this season, as the Bavarians confirmed Canadian full-back Alphonso Davies picked up a ligament strain during the 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

The news comes as a huge blow to the club ahead of their crucial fixture against league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, as Bayern are already missing regular first-team players like Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano due to injuries.

Bayern issued a statement saying Davies was “set for a spell on the sidelines” after picking up the injury in a 3-1 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach at home.

“Alphonso Davies suffered a ligament strain in his left knee,” the club wrote in a statement.

Before the diagnosis was made clear, coach Thomas Tuchel said after the game he had “no words” for Davies’ situation, saying in January he felt the club was under an injury “jinx”.

Davies was replaced on Saturday with five minutes remaining after limping off, with club doctors confirming the nature of his injury.

This has been a season riddled with injuries in Allianz Arena, with the likes of players like Matthijs De Ligt, Serge Gnabry, Kimmich, Kingsley Coman, Koman Raider, Eric Choupo-Moting and others picking up injuries all along the season, rendering the Bavarians unable to play at full strength so far this season.

Yet, they have more than held on, thanks to talisman striker Harry Kane’s impeccable form, which has seen him score 28 goals in just 27 games so far this season.

Bayern currently sit in second place in the Bundesliga, two points below league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who they will face on February 10.
